Michigan: Mock Race Update

Three days into the mock race Continuum has already run 1400 kilometers and we will be passing by Port Augusta on the 29^th of September. Tonight there was a massive sand storm with huge winds causing the tents right next to me to blow all over the place. Earlier we ate dinner outside and by the end of the meal there was a pile of sand in the bottom of our cups. The sky was red with all of the dusts that had blown up and along the horizon there was a red haze. The combination of winds, dust, and the bugs that are all over the place tend to make it hard to work on the car at night. Meanwhile, everything belonging to the Team is covered in red and orange dirt.

Over the past few days we have spent a lot of time on the side of the road making tire changes and working out growing pains for the car. The drivers are doing well and some are staying in the car for as long as 5 hours at a time. With no air conditioning and temperatures reach as high as 40 degrees Celsius during the day this is a rather impressive feat! Unfortunately, it gets boring since the Stuart Highway is very straight and does not have much change in scenery. Every now and then you see brush and lizards, but at control stops we have had locals stopping by to see the car. During the mock race we have been very thankful for Ann Marie Philbey and Trevor Philbey. Trevor has been driving the prime mover for our semi trailer, while Ann Marie has made us amazing food each day.

We are extremely excited by the results of our mock race thus far and we look forward to updating you again at its conclusion!
